Everybody has a story in them, something they believe people need to hear, a memoir to pass on to their kids, a treasury of poetry hidden away in a musty closet. But doesn’t publishing a book involve thousands of dollars and end up with hundreds of books rotting in the garage? That may have been the case little more than a decade or so ago but computer technology has brought a major revolution to the publishing business.
Today you can type your book directly into a computer and print out small quantities of books on your home printer or make a master copy, on paper or disk, to take to your local copy shop. In this way setup costs are much lower and short runs are quite realistic.
This is where Just Perfect Binding (JPB) comes in. JPB will bind and trim the text into paperback books just like you see at your local bookstore. We are one of the few businesses in Southern Oregon to offer perfect binding. We can bind one book or many thousands, ranging in size from 4.25" x 5.5" to 12" x 12" and up to 1.5" thick.
We have two methods to perfect bind your book, the traditional wrap-around single sheet cover like you see on paperbacks and a tape version (see below) which works well with small quantities. Either way your book will have that professional-bound look.

Just Perfect Binding has come up with an affordable way to perfect bind even a small quantity of books using book tape on the spine. These books do not use the traditional wrap-around covers, but are still bound like a book. The tape version works well with 8.5" x 11", 5.5" x 8.5" and 7" x 8.5" sizes. This allows you to print your own text and covers at home or at a nearby copy/print shop giving you more control in the printing of your book..

For example, you may have printed your book on 8.5" x 11" sheets and want a wrap around cover. For most copy machines 11" x 17" is the largest printable sheet size.

The 11" dimension is okay for this application but the 17" dimension is too small to allow both 8.5" front and back covers plus the spine. As a result, the covers would have to be printed on larger, more expensive paper on a larger, more expensive copy machine. In addition, when you bind a book with a wrap-around cover, you need to provide 8-20 or so extra copies of both covers and text, depending on the finished quantity, to cover any losses during the binding process. That could be quite an extra expense if you have a thick book.
On the other hand, our tape version involves perfect binding the front and back covers right with the text, all of which are the same size. After binding, the spine is covered with a nice quality 2" book tape. Books supplied as 8.5" x 11" will have a 3-sided finished trim (as all books) to come out no smaller than 8.25" x 10.75". In addition, there is no need to print extras, since there are rarely any losses with this process. Nevertheless, depending on the size of your book, a wrap-around cover may be more economical. Ask for a binding comparison estimate to be sure.
